Oasis For Autism
Privacy Notice

Last updated 28 August 2026.

The short version

You can read every article on this site without giving me anything. I do not sell your information, I do not have a mailing list you did not ask to join, and I never share what you write to me. I do use Google Analytics to see which pages people find useful, and that involves cookies. Everything below is the detail behind those sentences.

This matters more here than on most sites. People arrive at OasisForAutism.com in the middle of a hard week, searching for things about their family’s health, legal standing, and money. You deserve to know exactly what happens to that visit.

Who we are

OasisForAutism.com is published by Jim Palasty in Burton, Michigan. It is a personal advocacy project, not a company or a registered charity. You can reach me through the contact page.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4, connected through the Google Site Kit plugin. It records which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world the visitor is, what kind of device they used, and which site or search sent them here. It sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another.

I use this for one thing: working out which guides actually help people so I know what to write next. I do not use it to identify individual readers, and I could not do so if I wanted to. Google’s own description of how it handles this data is at policies.google.com/privacy.

This site also uses Google Search Console, which reports the search terms that led people here in aggregate, and Jetpack, which provides security and performance features and may set its own cookies.

Advertising

Google advertising code is currently present on this site through Site Kit. Where Google serves advertising, Google and its partners may use cookies to select and measure ads. You can review and change what Google does with this at myadcenter.google.com, and you can opt out of personalized advertising across many networks at optout.aboutads.info.

I will say plainly what I will never do here: no advertising on crisis content, and no paid placement dressed up as a recommendation. If a resource is listed on this site, it is listed because I think it helps, not because someone paid for the slot. If that ever changes, it will be labeled, and this page will say so.

When you write to me

The contact form collects your name, email address, subject, and message, and sends them to my email. I keep messages so I can follow up and so I can track patterns in what families are running into. I do not add anyone to a mailing list because they contacted me, and I do not pass what you write to anyone else.

If you tell me about your family member’s situation, treat it the way you would treat telling any other member of the public. I hold it carefully, but I am not a doctor, a lawyer, or a covered entity under HIPAA, and this site is not a secure medical channel. If you would rather I never quote something, say so and I will not. I do not publish anything identifying without asking first.

Petition and campaign forms on this site collect what the form itself shows on screen, and are used only for the campaign named on that page.

The newsletter

The newsletter runs on Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which stores your email address and records whether messages were opened. You only join by entering your address yourself, every message has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you immediately. Kit’s privacy policy is at kit.com/privacy.

Cookies

Cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and Google advertising, from Jetpack, from the caching system that makes pages load faster, and from WordPress itself if you log in as an administrator. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work.

Embedded content from other sites

Some pages embed video, audio, or documents hosted elsewhere. Embedded content behaves as though you had visited that other site directly, which means the other site can set cookies and track your interaction with it. That is outside my control and governed by their policies, not this one.

Who your information is shared with

Nobody, beyond the services named on this page that are needed to run the site. Your information is not sold, rented, traded, or handed to advertisers, data brokers, service providers, or anyone else. There is no exception to this that I am quietly not mentioning.

How long things are kept

Messages sent through the contact form are kept while they are still useful for follow up. Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Analytics data follows Google’s own retention settings. Ask me to delete something of yours and I will.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me what information I hold about you, ask for a copy, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Write through the contact page and I will handle it myself. There is no form to fill out and no department to escalate to. It is one person and an inbox.

Most browsers offer a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control setting. This site honors those signals where the underlying services support them.

Children

This site is written for adults, mainly parents and caregivers, and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent something through a form here, tell me and I will remove it.

Changes to this notice

When this changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change actually affects what happens to your information, rather than just tidying the wording, I will say so in the newsletter.

So there.
